Turn out time...

The sun has been shining steadily for a few days at the Castell so when Carl arrived on Tuesday we thought it was time to do a bit of maintenance on the fencing. The result of Carls hard labour meant we turned a gang of 26 fillies out a mixture of 2yr olds and barren 3yr olds. Then in another patch we turned the 17 2yr old colts and finally we turned 5 brood mares out who are late foalers. This drastically reduces the amount of time we spend in the stock sheds every day and means we should get more time to spend on the riding horses. So after a couple of hours with the machine and Carl and I with forks we also have one shed cleaned out ready for the mares and foals to come in at night! So fingers crossed we'll be in for a dry spell and the last 30 from the main shed will also be out and we'll split the foals into their groups as the young colts have also started to notice the arrival of spring!!
