A Long Day!

A Long Day!And then a busy week!!!

Last weekend we decide to make the trip to Osbaldeston for us it is quite a run and because of this Mark decide we should take a full load. The down side being it meant we had to leave at 5am to ensure we got there for the British Novice as to fill the wagon we had to take a selection from British Novice upto Foxhunter. On arriving we realised they had a clear round first which was great for Chagall as he has only been to several indoor shows and an extra look around always settles him.
Carl achieved a double clear in the Discovery with Cordino then had a third placing in the 1.05 and the 1.10 with Balia and Anouk - they jumped these classes as a warm up for the Foxhunter which was a Blue Chip qualifier and we thought as they hadn't had a show for a week they might need a little look around but as they were both placed it shows they are more grown up than we thought!!!
The main class was the Foxhunter which all of our horses had 4 faults except for Zanzibar-he hadn't been out for a while and needed his last clear fox for next year which he gained and also came third which meant he secured his Blue Chip ticket!! So arriving home at 9pm after a 5am start it didn't seem so bad.
The week that followed was hectic as usual some days have been far too rough weather wise to ride the young horses so instead we ran all the 1 and 2 year olds up tho the main yard to worm them so atleast we managed to stay under cover and avoid the storms!! Friday was a sad day Mark had to take 3 of the older retired brood mares away which meant an early start for us so we were glad when the transporter delivering 3 horses was going to arrive around 5pm so atleast we could have an early evening. This did not happen as usual in life unexpected things crop up - the wagon missed our turning then went a little off the road 1/4 of a mile past our drive so the early evening soon disappeared as we transfered horses onto our wagon-or atleast tried to - one would not swap over, then the transporter had a flat battery because of the interior lights being on so long, then as we waited for the tractor to tow the wagon a bevy of cars came up the road on their way to a party at a neighbours and when you consider there is only several houses beyond ours it was very unlucky for them to come across the blocked road they decided to head off back to the village and seek refuge in the local pub until we cleared the road - I suppose the party couldn't really start until they arrived as they had the drum kit in one of their cars!!! Eventually some 3 hours after reaching our lane the transporter pulled into our yard with the last horse on!! The horse then took another half an hour to decide to leave the wagon and set foot in her new stable!!
So in all another long day then as the lorry driver was out of hours we gave her a bed for the night but Mark had to get up at 5.30am again to drive the wagon to the main road for her!! So this week end we decided to give Field House and the 6am start a miss as there were only classes for 3 of the horses and a lie in bed seemed preferable!!!
The horses that arrived will be added to the web-site soon - one is a mare out of a sister of Lord Z and another is a brother to Zanzibars mother!!
